Just checked out the recent update from NOAA on Hurricane Ike. You can find it www.nhc.noaa.gov. Another good source is www.wunderground.com. Anyway, the five day forecast is out and it looks like this:
That red arrow you see to the bottom right of Lake Okeechobee points to my house. Not to make it all about me, but…
Fortunately, five days is a long way out. They are predicting it to weaken some in the next 24-48 hrs. Which would be good because a Cat 4 would probably be worth leaving town for.
The path can likely change a lot in that time. Especially given that the models show three different paths. Unfortunately, they all end up at the same place. If it still holds true by Saturday, you can bet I will be filling up the gas cans for the generator and getting t the window a/c unit ready.
Nothing to panic over, but certainly worth watching.
